Wisdom is a Most Precious Jewel
I am, as I get older, soon to hit the big 50, realizing the beauty of certain words. One of those words is Wisdom, something I wish I had, true Wisdom, years ago. It's never to late to acquire true Wisdom is whatever measure one can, via the only true source, The Holy Spirit.
What is Wisdom? Basically it is the ability to discern. To discern what you might ask, and well you might. That's a very good question, which I will answer. It's the ability to determine the difference within the Christian framework of what is holy and unholy, righteous and unrighteous, constructive and destructive, all from a Biblical viewpoint, holistically. This includes how one manages one's health, time, relationships, vocation, gifts, talents so on and so forth. The Bible tells us that it is more precious that jewels, and nothing can compare to her and if one thinks back to when really destructive decisions or foolish decisions were made that hurt not only ourselves but others also, then the Bible is right. Wisdom, true Wisdom is a most precious gift that should be pursued throughout life always and sought to be applied to every aspect of living. Is Wisdom the same as knowledge? Well, no, though it might seem that way and they are connected, related, cousins you could say. Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge gained to life situations. How then does one gain Wisdom, true Wisdom? Is there a hocus pocus magic formula, a drink you can take that will automatically, magically make yo wise, truly wise? Sorry, no, no can do. It's a process of sanctification of prayer, study, a journey with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with God's Holy Word the Bible throughout life.
I have done a number of studies in my life in Christianity and had a number of Bibles at home, but found that the best sources for understanding the Bible, God's Word have been Prayer to the Holy Spirit for understanding daily, the Expositor's Study Bible, The Recovery Version Bible, The Evangelist Magazine, and Faithwriters. I abhor anything that is not the King James or based on the King James, Tyndale and other Old school Bibles. I abhor paraphrase, NKJV, and any liberal Bible that tries to justify sin or make Jesus out to be anything other than who he was the spotless lamb of God, the Messiah, the Christ, the only way, truth, and life, the begotten son, born of Mary, by power of the Holy Spirit, for it is blasphemy.
Once we have the knowledge, we must seek the Holy Spirit to know how to apply it. It's like getting a degree. Without the internship or actually going to work, all you have is book and classroom theory. Until we actually connect fully to the Trinity, including the Holy Spirit with evidence of a changed life and lifestyle, then it's all theory and talk, nothing more. If we continue in lawlessness, then it's just talk, or theory in a book that we never truly understand and apply. That is truly sad and could mean we are not truly saved, which is truly truly sad.
Shalom and Amen.
